About the photo…
“The photo is about a Hindu festival named “Rakher Upobash”. When thousands of Hindu people sit together with oil lamps and fruits. They pray to God in Barodi temple, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Hindu devotees keep fasting on that day and secure their places from the afternoon in the temple. All the men, women, and children sit side by side. They remember Baba Loknath who was 18th Century Hindu saint of Bengal.” - Muhammad Amdad Hossain
About our winner…
Muhammad Amdad Hossain lives in a village near Chittagong city, Bangladesh. Since childhood, he has been interested in the art of photography but he didn’t have access to a camera. In 2016, he managed to buy his first camera and started capturing photos. His particular areas of interest are travel and documentary photography, he also has a fascination for portraits. To Muhammad, travel and photography go hand in hand. For the last few years he has been travelling near and far to capture interesting human stories. His dream is to explore different aspects of human life and document them. Capturing the human element is the key to his photography. Through his photos, he wants to share his unique perspective and experience with all.
